After 6 months of back pain due to a stroke and seizures during the stroke Emma took the time to consult with me about the best way forward after Physio. We worked on several somatic exercises which were soft and gentle, because at the beginning I could not move without pain . Emma was so clear about using the correct positions and tailored our sessions every week to suit the pain and my capabilities in a positive way, which gave me confidence.

To my amazement after the first session of 8 simple movements my back had ‘untangled’ itself . By the second week I stopped needing the pain killers .. wonderful. The movements are so gentle that when in a group there’s no competition. With this approach it is not about how good you are!

She’s always keen to teach us different relaxation techniques and positions every week and I find myself looking forward to each class. Then, maintaining that mental focus through larger movements, we loosen and warm the key areas of the body. Each asana, throughout the class, links seamlessly to the next, building in complexity and always drawing attention to the breath. Instruction is clear and easy to follow, with Emma giving individuals the attention they need to perform each posture safely and for maximum benefit. Her knowledge of human physiology, the way to enter and exit each posture safely and of each asana’s benefits and the subtle body are excellent.
