Before discovering Somatic Yoga, I had tried many routes to deal with my fears and anxieties—especially traditional counseling—but nothing seemed to truly shift the way I felt in my body or my day-to-day life. Working with Emma through Somatic Yoga has been a profound turning point. Just being able to motivate myself to attend the class was a breakthrough for me in its self. They have helped me reconnect with myself and through simple, mindful movement and breath, I have begun to feel safer in my body and more in control of my responses to stress.

Little by little, the fear and anxiety that used to feel overwhelming has started to soften and is becoming manageable. My Social Prescriber told me about the Chair Yoga sessions with Emma, although I was unsure about going as yoga had always seemed to me to be quite a specialist activity. However, the way Emma runs the classes makes it accessible for all. I have a brain injury as well as osteoarthritis, and I am in constant pain. I am no longer able to go to conventional exercise classes. Due to short term memory problems, I can never remember all the exercises we do and going to a class is an immense help. Emma incorporates both Tai Chi and Qi Gong exercises in her classes, things that I used to do. With the calming music and not too many repetitions of each exercise, Emma's class has helped me relax and lets me go at my own pace. You do not feel as if you are being judged either and the hour goes by so quickly.

I have been doing Somatics for nine months now and have found it really helpful. At first I was nervous and a bit sceptical but Emma soon made me feel at ease and she creates a very relaxed atmosphere.
